Mobile Multimedia Installation Kit
Working in conjunction with Hampshire College professor Kara Lynch, the DART Program developed a mobile, multimedia installation kit that’s accessible to all students. The DART Mobile Multimedia Installation Kit includes a MacBook Pro outfitted with cutting edge software in real-time manipulation of music and video—Ableton Live and Isadora. Easily paired with portable speakers, an LCD projector and a bare wall, this kit allows students to transform almost any space into an interactive and responsive, site-specific art installation.

Ableton Live is about making music; for composition, songwriting, recording, production, remixing and live performance. Live’s nonlinear, intuitive flow, alongside powerful real-time editing and flexible performance options, make it a unique studio tool and a favorite with live performers. Live is geared toward artists who’d rather be “making music” than just “using music software.”

Isadora is an award-winning, graphic programming environment that provides interactive control over digital media, with special emphasis on the real-time manipulation of digital video. Because every performance or installation is unique, Isadora was designed not to be a "plug and play" program, but instead to offer building blocks that can be linked together in nearly unlimited ways, allowing you to follow your artistic impulse. Isadora was initially created to realize the performances of Troika Ranch, a media intensive dance company co-directed by Isadora's creator, composer and media-artist Mark Coniglio. Isadora reflects over 20 years of practical experience with real time interaction.
